Career Goals
When establishing or assessing your career goals take the time to identify your career values and goals collectively. Career values and goals are the subset of your beliefs and ideas and include things like honesty, service, self respect, respect for others, peace and success. Therefore, it is important to identify what values are important to you before you accept a new job offer. If a new company is not in line with your identified values regardless of how much you make or your title, you will not be happy long term.
There are different types of work values as well; intrinsic and extrinsic work values. Intrinsic values have to do with the actual tasks involved with a particular occupation or job, such as; helping others, challenging work or being an exemplary leader. Extrinsic values are concerned with the by-product of an occupation; such as what you get out of your work rather than what you put into it. Examples of extrinsic values are; fulfillment, recognition, career advancement, job security or high earnings.
Candidates need to make sure they have found the right fit with a new employer and ask the right questions to ensure they will work well with the new team and be happy with their career move for the long term.
I welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your career.
